FAQ: Homecare

Q. Are your home care services just for seniors? They are not. Actually, we provide services for people of all ages with a wide range of conditions. Q. Aren’t nursing homes less expensive than having caregivers come to your home? Very rarely. In fact, nursing home care can be as much as twice as expensive than home care. And the home care industry hasn't experienced the soaring cost increases that have been seen in nursing homes and assisted living facilities in recent years.  A-1 Nursing Care can provide the level and type of care you require, without paying to keep professionals you don't need on-site. And we don't have the costly overhead of a nursing home. Q. Can I feel safe having a stranger coming into my home? When hiring caregivers, we conduct lengthy applicant interviews, confirm credentials and references, and run extensive background checks with licensing agencies, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation  and the FBI. Additionally, our personnel are bonded, insured and committed to strict standards of professional competency, confidentiality and ethics. Perhaps more important, A-1 Nursing Care caregivers are experienced at helping you feel comfortable having them in your home. They respect your privacy, your belongings and your wishes.   Q. Can I have an aide come to the home for just a few hours a week to give me a break from caring for my loved one? Family caregivers face tremendous strain. Many find respite care provided by A a welcome solution. Q. What if I have a problem or concern? We encourage you to contact us with even the smallest concern or question by calling (614) 268-3800 or sending an email to: info@a1columbus.com. It's our policy to respond quickly and to resolve issues or concerns to your satisfaction. Q. Why should I use A-1 Nursing Care rather than hiring someone myself? Many people are not aware of how much is involved in hiring skilled home healthcare services. A-1 Nursing Care is an expert in selecting and retaining highly qualified personnel. Before one of our caregivers ever enters your home, he or she has passed a background check, rigorous screening and has been tested to ensure their level of professional competency. After you have selected a caregiver, we provide ongoing supervision and enforce mandatory continuing education. We also have qualified personnel ready to step in, should a substitute caregiver be needed. Additionally, A-1 Nursing Care manages payroll, taxes, bonding and all insurance requirements for our personnel. A common misconception is that a person's Homeowner’s insurance policy will cover them if a worker gets injuried while working for them. Most Homeowner's insurance specifically excludes anyone working within your home. If the person you hire becomes injured while working for you, you will become personally responsible for all of their medical bills. This has left several families very vulnerable when their caregiver injured themselves at their home. The potential to lose everything you have worked so hard to achieve seems an unnecessary risk. Each A-1 Nursing Care employee is fully covered by insurance so you and your loved ones can relax knowing that if something unforeseen happens to your caregiver, they are completely covered by insurance. All of this means you can rest assured that your needs are met by well-qualified caregivers.
